I come from the small town of Port Chalmers on the Dunedin harbour. I am the second eldest of 7 children and have 6 sisters.
All my early years were spent in Dunedin and I started work as an Electrician when leaving school. Like most boys sport was a big part of my life. I married at 22 years old and this year have been married 35 years.
I have 3 sons who are all married and 7 grandchildren. In 1987 I joined the New Zealand Fire service where I worked for 21 years before retraining as a teacher.
I have taught in Otatara School, South korea, Vietnam and now Shotover Primary.
I love to ski, mountain bike and run for fitness.
