I joined the Shotover Primary team from Remarkables Primary School, where I was a Foundation Teacher, Team Leader, Robotics Technology Teacher and leader in a number of technology initiatives.

I am passionate about creating an engaging and safe atmosphere for young learners, giving them the skills and opportunities to build their own motivation to learn, and develop of sense of deep ownership of that learning. I help develop strategies that our students can use to become creative and critical thinkers.

I took up teaching later in life after 15 years as an aircraft engineer in the British and New Zealand Air Force. This role took me to several conflict and disaster relief situations where I realised I had a passion for teaching.

Since then, I have made a positive impact at the schools where I have taught, fostering happy, interesting and exciting learning environments, self-managing learners and a welcoming collaborative atmosphere.

I am married, with two children and a sausage dog called Walter, who is quite well known in the local community. I enjoy the outdoors whether mountain biking, snowboarding or playing football. I am very excited to be part of the leadership team at Shotover Primary School.
